Life changes when someone we love is diagnosed with an illness with no cure. This session is designed to assist caregivers in creating a balance as they face, endure, and embrace the many losses of their lives and discover the inner strength which lies deep within them.

Sheila Munafo-Kanoza is the Founder and Executive Director of Companions on a Journey, a nonprofit organization providing bereavement and educational services. A Bereavement Support Specialist, lector, educator, facilitator, and nationally published writer, Sheila worked with families after the Oklahoma City Bombing in 1995 and in New York City after “9/11.” Sheila, who lost her husband ten years after his cancer diagnosis, has experienced caregiving and grief on a personal level. She was her husband’s caregiver and medical expert and the sole support of her family until his death on August 24, 1993.
