Upon completion of the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment, each patient enters the maintenance phase of Texas Voice Project’s program and becomes a member of “The LOUD Crowd.” Since Parkinson’s is a progressive disease, maintaining one’s speech and swallowing abilities is an on-going challenge. The LOUD Crowd provides support, encouragement, and continued care from a professional staff. Patients who participate in The LOUD Crowd have been shown to maintain their improved voices for more than five years.
Members of The LOUD Crowd
participate in weekly speech groups, 6-month
re-evaluations, a singing program, our annual SPEAK OUT! celebration and an Enterprise
City excursion to maintain the communication skills they have regained. |
